Scandinavian Music Fest

1st – 3rd November 2019

Conductors and singers are invited to join Voces Academy and award-winning chamber choir, Evoke, on a journey to Scandinavia.  Discover the wealth of repertoire that exists, pick up expert tips on how to approach language pronunciation with English speakers and gain native knowledge from respected Danish conductor, Peter Hanke, on a leader’s approach to bringing the music to life.  Participants will also receive a take-home repertoire package of over 50 pieces of music from Scandinavia’s foremost publishers.

Secrets of Scandinavia

Evoke presents a programme of Scandinavian gems that are rarely performed in the UK.  From beautiful folksongs to mischievous parodies, secrets of the Scandinavian choral repertoire will be revealed.

Sat 2nd November, 10.30am – 4.30pm
Repertoire Reading Day

Now the secret is out, it’s your turn to sing through the music and experience it on a deeper level.  Along with the repertoire presented by Evoke in concert, even more gems from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland will be explored in this repertoire reading day.  Become familiar with the languages as Peter and Victoria offer expert tips on how to approach teaching your choir.  Repertoire will focus on SATB works and will include music suitable for a range of different abilities, from easy to advanced.  Participants in the reading day will take away a repertoire package of more than 50 pieces from Scandinavia’s most prominent publishers – Edition Wilhelm Hansen, Gehrmans Musikförlag, Sulasol and Norsk Musikforlag.
