Come and explore the rich Scandinavian choral tradition.
Conductors, music teachers and choral singers are invited to join this full day workshop, in which Peter Hanke will lead participants through music from a variety of different countries including Denmark, Sweden, Norway & Iceland. Participants will be mentored in language pronunciation by members of the professional Voces Academy Ensemble, Copenhagen, hailing from countries throughout Scandinavia. All participants will receive a comprehensive repertoire package including music that is sung throughout the day to add to their own libraries. Repertoire will include SATB choral works that cater for a variety of skill-levels.
Composers you will experience include Vagn Holmboe, Carl Nielsen, Svend S. Schultz, Poul Ruders, Rued Langgård, Per Nørgård, Niels la Cour, Bo Holten, Bent Sørensen, P.E. Lange-Müller, David Wikander, Sven-David Sandström, Hugo Alfvén, Wilhelm Stenhammer, Lars Edlund, Peterson-Berger. Knut Nystedt, Edvard Grieg a.o.
Schedule
10.30-12.30 Music for up to moderately-skilled choirs focusing on language preparations in Danish and Swedish.
13.30-16.30 Advanced repertoire and presentation of significant Scandinavian choral works.
Online Resources
Voces Academy will provide a series of language pronounciation videos and soundbites as guidelines for the repertoire presented at the workshop. This online resource is included in the participation fee and will be available for download after the workshop.
