Internationally respected conductor, Peter Hanke, has specialised as an interpreter of advanced contemporary music for instrumental and vocal ensembles, and oratorio masterpieces.  In his native Denmark he has worked frequently as a guest conductor and chorusmaster with professional ensembles, including the Danish National Radio Choir, Danish Radio Concert Orchestra, Hafnia Chamber Orchestra and Ars Nova Copenhagen.  His capacity for effective and inspirational leadership means that he is also highly sought after across Europe as both a conductor and workshop leader.  Invitations have included the RIAS Kammerchor (Germany), Rzeszow and Lwodz Philharmonic Orchestras (Poland), Helsinki Chamber Choir (Finland), Vox Luminis (Netherlands), Badischer Kammerphilharmonie (Germany), Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra (Sweden), Musica Beata (UK) and the National Chamber Choir of Ireland.

In 2001 Peter founded the professional chamber choir, Voces Copenhagen, and in 2010 expanded his work with the ensemble to include a conductor training programme for talented young conductors.  Voces Academy is well-established in Copenhagen, with associates holding distinguished positions within the Danish choral industry, and is now rapidly expanding within the UK.

Peter is in great demand as a conducting pedagogue and is regularly invited to present masterclasses at some of Europe’s most prestigious institutions, including Royal Danish Academy of Music, Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music, Sweden), Royal Conservatoire (The Hague), Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler (Hanns Eisler Academy of Music, Berlin), Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and Birmingham Conservatoire.

Based on a life-long experience as a classical musician and performer, Peter has dedicated over a decade to exploring links between leadership, innovation and music performance.  True to his entrepreneurial spirit, Exart Performances was established in 2002.  He provides specialist leadership-coaching workshops in executive education across Europe and the US through an innovative programme with a deep, enduring impact.  In 2008 Peter was honoured with an ongoing Associate Fellowship at the Saïd Business School, Oxford University, and has been External Associate Professor at Copenhagen University since 2009.  He held the post of Artistic Director at the Centre for Art and Leadership with the Copenhagen Business School from 2003 – 2006.

Folowing a BA in Musicology from Copenhagen University, Peter studied conducting at the Danish Royal Academy of Music with the distinguished professors Jorma Panula and Dan-Olof Stenlund.  In 1986 he founded the Carmina Chamber Choir and Orchestra, claiming first place in the Fondazione Guido d’Arezzo choral competition in 1996 and receiving an award from the Einar Hansen Research Foundation for artistic achievements in 2005.  Recordings include music by Nielsen, Grieg, Barber, Holmboe, Nørgård, Lewkovitch, Elgar, Moeran, Vaughan Williams and Mendelssohn.
